a crazy-go-lucky project
hi folks. I'm a new member, but I'm a long time knitter and an avid spontaneous project starter. My most recent project is a knitted quilt: I have lots of little extra skeins laying around, and I've been knitting each into a 4x4 square, which I will eventually crochet together, add a backing, and viola! a quilt.
I have been doing each square in a different stitch, and thus far, I have exploited all my knitting books (not many) and a google search for "knitting stitches." However, I have exhausted these sources and want to take advantage of your minds for more stitches, or designs, which I can knit up into squares and add to my quilt.
What are your favorite knitting stitches? What are your favorite designs? Have any awesome free online knit-stitch librarys I should check out?
Any advice is appreciated!

The new knitty is out! the new knitty is out!!!!
SO many projects so little time...
Oh! and I found the most beautiful knitting annual form 1950 on my mothers book shelf. At which point I ranted and squeed for about an hour....
Lovely vintage patterns....squeeeeeee....

This is the sweater I just finished last week. It is pretty cute, a few mistakes, but mostly nice. I got this from the Stitch n' Bitch book, if I ever do this again, I think I will give one of the skulls an eye patch. ( PicturesCollapse )
Now I want to make a skirt, but I have not been able to find patterns for that yet, anyone have any ideas? Current Mood: creative

Here's the deal, guys. I'm a long time lurker and have posted to a few of these threads once or twice. Now I'm in a bind and need help. I've been scouring the internet for anything I can use and I've come up nearly blank. I have four skeins of Moa Boa and want to knit a chemo cap for a friend of mine who's going into the hospital next month. However, she REALLY wants a pageboy type cap, so I'm trying to figure something out. Any ideas? Patterns? Thoughts?

Ninja Roll Call
Let’s see if anyone actually reads this. Say your name, the project you are working on right now, and a knitting problem you are having, a question, or the last problem you had and how you fixed or did not fix it.
I am Kitty. I am making a simple head kerchief. I love making these things. The last problem I had was putting the neck on the skully sweater from SnB. I am not any good at picking up stitches, so it came out really bad and loose. I have already done the shoulders so I think it is to late to go back and fix it. So I am going to tell people it is a “Punk” neck.

*bows* Konnichiwa. Needle Ninja desu. Hajimemashite. Doozo yoroshiku.
Greetings, all. When I chose this particular username for participating in knitting communities (and for chronicling my own work), I had no idea such a place as this existed. I have been knitting for approximately two months now, and I have finished one project. What, precisely, is allowed/not allowed in this community?
My favorite yarn thus far is Alpaca Silk. I have yet to buy any, but I fondle it every time I go into the LYS. Is that so wrong? Current Mood: amused

Cotton is better than wool!
There, I said it.
But, honestly I am in love with cotton!
I started making "Kyoto" from Knitty.com a week or so ago. I'm using cotton-ease in strawberry cream and in vanilla. The sash is going to be the vanilla, and the main body is the strawberry cream. I thought about doing the stripes, but I couldn't find the purple I wanted. ... some kind of eggplant color I think.
Cottonease is the best blend of yarn I have used so far, and it makes me so happy to knit with it. I like much better than wool, especially when I think wool I think winter and bulky sweaters. Current Mood: giddy

New knitting Ninja
Hi I am kitty. I have been knitting for about a year and a half now off and on. I started with a lion brand book, but it sucked so I went to Stitch N’Bitch, which super rocks. Right now I am working on the skully sweater to give as a gift. I want to start a knitting group in my area. (Middle Georgia)
I found this list and thought it would be kinda of cool for tips and pointer and to brag about our knitting success. And our fighting success I guess.
I will be doing the neck on this sweater in a few days, and I have never done a neck before, so I will let you know how that goes. Current Mood: artistic

hmmm... wow some people are talking on this now... i haven't knit a damn thing in a while, nor have i been online ... well i knit a few scarves but they don't count... and i knit 2 leg warmers.. but one is pink mohair yarn and the other is purple with metallic going throughout... and they do not match ( so they don't count either)... going to knit the boyfriend a hat .. guess that counts... but all i want to do is train to fight ... that and cross stitch .. B'ham kids unite... if i ever get off my ass i will get a gaggle of ladies together to knit and watch ninja flicks... i vote for crippled masters... not ninjas per say... but they are an ass kicking force to be reckoned with...
PS. -watching The Ultimate Fighter on Spike TV makes the time fly by ... i cross stitch while watching it and my fingers were flying ...i am sure it will work for knitting next week i will give it a shot ... gotta support the shows about fighting ..

Knitting Ninjas? That's an awesome name ... How could anyone not want to be a knitting ninja!
A little intro ... My name is Jen, I've been knitting for a little over a year, I live in the Detroit metro area, and I'm currently working on four projects. ... Which umm .. are being neglected. I'm on my first pair of socks and stuck on my first gusset, and haven't touched the poor thing since.
But whoo, I'm a knitting ninja now! I feel like I can take on that stupid gusset now!
Cheers! Current Mood: determined
